Colin Uecker, Texas Lutheran University, Men's Golfer of the Week (Spring - Week 3)

COLIN UECKER OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior from Kerrville, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, March 6 through Tuesday, March 12.

Uecker won a three-man playoff with Casey Leebrick of York (Pa.) and Michael Barber of Millikin (Ill.) at the adidast Intercollegiate which was played at Dataw Island Club's Cotton Dike Course. Uecker birdied the first playoff hole to capture medalist honors.

The senior, who started Tuesday's final round by trailing Leebrick by two shots, closed with an even-par 72, and Leebrick carded a two-over 74. Barber got into the playoff with a 1-under 71. All three golfers finished regulation with an even-par score of 216. Uecker posted rounds of 73-71-72. Leebrick went 68-74-74, and Barber scored 73-72-71. TLU finished in fifth place in the 15-team event.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Jason Lopez of Schreiner paced the Mountaineers with rounds of 70 and 75 for a two-day total of 145 and a tie for fifth place among individuals at the Schreiner Spring Shootout Junior Erik Hamm of Dallas led the Crusaders with the best two-round finish of his career after shooting a 147 overall, with a 73 mark in the second round. He tied for eighth in the 65-person field. Junior Alexander Fernandez of Johnson & Wales carded a third-round 77 on Sunday - his best round of the spring - to lead the Wildcats' men's golf team to a sixth place finish at the Oregon Tech Spring Invite. Fernandez finished with a three-round total of 244 (+28) to place 18th individually at Eagle Point Golf Club. Sophomore Bryce Pidgeon of Trinity shot a final-round 80 and tied for 14th place with an 8-over-par score of 152 at the Schreiner Spring Shootout.
