JIMMY KEENER OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for tournaments played through Tuesday, September 9th.
Keener marked his third collegiate victory in the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational hosted by Texas Lutheran University and helped lead the Mountaineers to a first place finish, carding an overall 837, 13 shots ahead of the second place Texas Lutheran Bulldogs. Keener finished the two-day competition with an 11-under mark of 202 (68, 64, 70).
The Mountaineers rewrote the record book during the tournament, recording five new team records, while Keener broke five of his own, including the records for 54-Hole score (202, -11), 36-Hole score (132, -10) and 18-Hole score (64, -7). Keener also broke the records for Second-Round Score (-7) and Third-Round Score (-4) and tied with Cheyne Kendall for the First-Round Score record (-3).
Southwestern, Texas Lutheran and Trinity did not nominate anyone for Golfer-of-the-Week.
