JONATHAN BLOUNT OF CENTENARY
COLLEGE, a senior guard from Shreveport, La.,
has been selected the SCAC Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for
games played from Monday, February 17th through Sunday,
February 23rd.
Blount averaged an astonishing 44.5
points over two games this week including setting Centenary's
single-game scoring record and scoring the second most points in
SCAC history with 53 points against Open Bible
College.
Blount followed the effort with 36
points in the Gents regular season finale assisting the squad in
clinching the No. 2 seed in the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference Tournament.
Blount shot 58.7 percent from the floor
on the week and connected on 40 percent from behind the arc. Blount
was also 80 percent from the charity stripe. He averaged 5.0
rebounds including grabbing a season-high eight boards in the win
over Austin
College.
Blount's 44.5 points per game is second
all time for a week to only eric Ochel of Sewanee, who scored 55,
the SCAC single game record, and 36 to average 45.5
points.
