LUKE CALDARERA
OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from
Houston, Texas, has been named SCAC Basketball Player-of-the-Week
for games played Monday, January 3 through Sunday, January 9.
Caldarera led Trinity to SCAC home wins over
Millsaps and Hendrix this past weekend, vaulting the Tigers into a
tie for second place in the division standings.
Caldarera led the team in scoring and rebounding in both games, averaging 19.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in the two victories. He also dished out six assists and grabbed four steals.
He shot 15-28 (53.6%) from the field, hitting 2-4 (50%) of his
three-point shots. Caldarera also knocked down
7-11 (63.6%) from the free throw line.
For the season, Caldarera is averaging 13.5 points/game and 6.4 rebounds/game to lead the Tigers in both categories. He is currently third on the team with 22 assists, and is shooting 46% (74-161) from the field and 33% (6-18) from long range.
