ZACH GALINDO OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior quarterback from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, October 8th.

Galindo led TLU to its 10th-consecutive SCAC victory with a 38-28 win over Trinity, as the junior QB completed 74.2 percent of his passes (23-for-31) and threw for a career-high 269 yards. His 295 yards of total offense was also a career-best.

Galindo tossed three touchdowns and did not have an interception, and over this last two games, the junior has thrown eight TDs without a pick. He is currently second in the SCAC in passing yards per game (207.0) and leads the conference in touchdown passes with 12.

Sophomore quarterback Frederick Hover of Southwestern University led the Pirates to their first-ever SCAC victory on Saturday, as the Pirates ran away from Austin College, 37-7. The starting QB completed 71.4 percent of his passes, while also rushing for 113 yards and a touchdown. Hover was the only player in the conference to eclipse the century mark on the ground this past week. Additionally, Hover averaged 8.1 yards per carry in the win, while Southwestern rolled up a season-high 320 rushing yards. Freshman receiver Tommy Lavine of Trinity University came through with his career-best effort this past weekend, as the Tigers lost a tough 38-28 road game at Texas Lutheran to kick off SCAC play. Lavine had eight receptions for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns on Saturday night, taking over the top spot on the team in yards, receptions, and touchdowns this season.
