Cooper Woodyard, Austin College, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 3)

COOPER WOODYARD OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior quarterback from The Woodlands, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, September 17th.

Woodyard had a huge game for Austin College, completing 20-of-27 passes for 209 yards with 2 touchdowns and zero interceptions, adding 117 rushing yards on 16 carries with another score.

Woodyard was responsible for all 3 of Austin College's touchdowns in a 30-17 win over Whittier, including a 21 yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Woodyard becomes the first Austin College quarterback in more than 20 years to pass for more than 200 yards and rush for 100 yards in a single game.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior running back Evan McDowell of Trinity University scored the go-ahead touchdown from two yards out with 16 seconds remaining in the game. That short run finished off a 92-yard drive during which McDowell rushed for 65 yards. Sophomore running back Tre Scallion of Texas Lutheran University rushed for a career-best 112 yards on 13 carries and scored a career-high 3 rushing touchdowns in the game against Lousiana College. Senior wide receiver Dante Smith of Southwestern University became just the second player in the modern era of Southwestern football to pull down three touchdown receptions in a game. Smith also had 9 catches for 61 yards on the night.
