HOLDEN NOVAK OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior pitcher from Coppell, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Monday, March 7th through Sunday, March 13th.
Novak threw his second complete game of the season, allowing only three hits while fanning 10 on only 101 pitches (73) strikes in nine innings. He retired the side in order in 5-of-9 innings and only one Austin College runner advanced past second.
Centenary now has allowed no runs in 34 innings of baseball in the month of March.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior pitcher Troy Nelson of Trinity University pitched the #4 Trinity baseball team to a series-opening victory against Southwestern, striking out nine batters in seven innings of work. Freshman pitcher Dylan Murrell of Texas Lutheran picked up two wins and a save in the Bulldogs' 4-0 week. Freshman pitcher Tyler Polasek of Southwestern hurled seven shutout innings against Trinity and limited the conference's top offensive squad to only three hits. Senior pitcher Luciano Villanueva of Dallas allowed only two earned runs against Hardin-Simmons in his first collegiate start as a pitcher.
