AUSTIN CARDEN
OF RHODES COLLEGE, a 6-2, 215-pound junior
right-hander from Houston Texas, has been selected the SCAC
Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 14
through Sunday, March 20.
Carden continues to pitch well in
2011. Carden pitched a gem this weekend,
going the distance (seven innings) against DePauw in a 2-0
win. It was his first complete game shutout of his
career. Carden battled through the first three innings before
settling down and retiring the last 12 batters he faced.
On the game Carden scattered four hits,
walked none struck out four. He has had some tough luck this
season as he is 2-4 with an ERA of 2.83. Two of his losses
have come to #1 Heidelberg, 3-2 and #8 Marietta, 4-1.
