MICHAEL
PANOZZO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a 6-2, 195-pound
senior right-hander from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC
Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February
14 through Sunday, February 20.
Panozzo tossed a three-hit shutout in his only
outing last week, helping the Tigers to a three-game weekend sweep
of Sul Ross, and four wins overall last week.
Panozzo shut down a Sul Ross offense that averaged
9.0 runs/game in the other two games of the weekend series. He also
struck out seven batters in the game
For the season, Panozzo leads the Tigers with
an ERA of 1.96 and a 2-0 record. He has appeared in four
games overall, with Saturday being his second start of the
season. He has yielded just four runs in 18.1 innings of
work, striking out 13, and holding opponents to a .226 batting
average.
