TAYLOR ADAMS OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior on the women's swim team, has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Female Character and Community Award winner for the week beginning December 12, 2016.

The SCAC honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Adams is very involved in campus life at Southwestern. In addition to being a member of the Pirate swimming and diving squad, she serves as the vice president of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, she is the president of the Panhellenic Council and is the off-campus representative for the Student Government Association.

“Outside of that I do some volunteer work,” Adams added. “I’m just very involved.”

She wouldn’t have it any other way.

Adams ran off the numerous activities she takes part in regularly with these organizations.

“You get exposed to a lot of different opportunities,” Adams said.

Her exposure to community service began in high school. She continued her involvement as soon as she made it to Georgetown.

“The community has always been super important to me,” Adams commented. “Community service is super important to give back to the community that gives to you so much, especially Georgetown. It’s such a great city.”
