CONNOR VER SCHUUR OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior on the Mountaineers' baseball team, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Character & Community Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the period beginning May 15, 2017.
The SCAC honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.
Ver Schuur has been a vital part of the Mountaineers’ success the past four seasons. Along with his work on the field, Ver Schuur has made several contributions off the field, also.
Since arriving in Kerrville, he has become involved in serving in many organizations such as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Veterans Administration, Christian Men’s Job Corp, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. While at home, Ver Schuur works with Drive A Senior and the local YMCA back.
Some of the volunteer work that Ver Schuur has been involved in include several different projects such as assisting in local yard projects, a Home Run Fundraising contest, and different Veterans events. Ver Schuur has also been a regular on the Academic Honors list while at Schreiner.
