Hilary Hoffman, Trinity University, Softball

HILARY HOFFMAN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior on the Tigers' softball team, has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Female Character and Community Award Winner for the week beginning May 1, 2017.

The SCAC honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

 

Hoffman will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity in May. She is a communication major, and minors in sport management.

On Trinity’s campus, Hoffman was the chair and social media director for the Concert for the Cure. The event raises money to send children with cancer to a summer camp. Hoffman also works with Lone Star Play Ball, which gives special needs youngsters the opportunity to participate in the sport of softball. Her sorority, Gamma Chi Delta, is extensively involved in philanthropic projects.

Hoffman is a member of Trinity’s Distinguished Representatives. The group works with the Office of Admissions in the recruiting of prospective students. Hoffman also wrote for the University’s Odyssey Online about sports, current events, and lifestyles.

The versatile Hoffman has received invaluable experience from Spurs Sports and Entertainment. She proposed four different campaigns to the organization, and developed ideas through research, data development, and event planning. Additionally, Hoffman designed print and social media advertisements for the University of Texas at San Antonio football program.

In June 2016, Hoffman attended the United States Olympic Committee’s Finding Leaders Among Minorities Everywhere (F.L.A.M.E.) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Hoffman developed  a strategic plan for USA Track & Field, dealing with diversity problems the organization was having with officials. She also created a brochure for the officiating program.

Hoffman has received numerous accolades from the SCAC. She made the 2016 All-SCAC Honorable Mention Team, and was a Second Team recipient the previous two seasons. Hoffman was also selected for the 2015 SCAC All-Tournament Team.
