ERICK MCCOLLUM OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior on the Mountaineers' men's basketball team, has been chosen as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Character & Community Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week beginning February 27, 2017.
The SCAC honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.
McCollum has been a vital part of the Mountaineers success both on and off the court the past four seasons. Along with his work in the gym, McCollum has made several contributions off the court, also. Since arriving in Kerrville, he has become involved in serving as a Schreiner Ambassador, in Learning Support Services, Fellowship of Christian Athletics, Community Support Initiative (CSI), and has been a consistent member of the Schreiner President’s List.
Through his experiences with campus life and basketball, McCollum has been able to lead and volunteer in many way. Some of his most recent projects have been volunteering with food drives and sports camps both in Kerrville, and back home, in Hondo, Texas.
