KYLIE BRADLEY OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a sophomore on the Ladies' softball team, has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Female Character and Community Award Winner for the week beginning February 27, 2017.

The SCAC honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

“Kylie has been a great addition to our program since she has arrived in January of 2016,” said head coach Mark Suire. “She always seems to be positive and wants everyone around her to be the best they can be. She is a good role model and an exceptional teammate who truly cares about others.”

Bradley, an English communication major, helps out with special needs children and teaches them how to play baseball and softball. She also helped out with the Holy Angels in Shreveport, which is a house with approximately 185 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with ages ranging from newborns to older adult. It allows clients opportunities to live in the most independent settings in homes in the Shreveport community, but Holy Angels also serves individuals with behavior or medical needs on the campus in specialized programs.

“It is an honor to receive recognition from the SCAC,” said Bradley. “I always try to give back in appreciation for all of the blessings I have in my life. It is such a joy to see all the smiling faces when we help teach kids how to play baseball and softball.”

On the field, she played in 43 games as a freshman in 2016 with 36 starts as a catcher. She batted .258 with 23 hits, 12 RBI’s, 11 runs, six doubles, and added a home run. She helped the Ladies post the third-largest win improvement in NCAA Division III last season, and the best batting average in team history.
