CHARLIE NUNEZ OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior from El Paso, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending February 2, 2015.

Charlie Nunez, who is a senior guard on the Schreiner's men's basketball team was selected for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's Character & Community Award today.  The El Paso, TX native (Chapin HS), only continues to add to his list of endeavors and accomplishments with each passing year in Kerrville. 

His campus involvement over 3-1/2 years in extensive and varied, ranging from Student Government to Campus Ministry, from the Student-Athlete Advisory Council to NetVue, from Project Impact to serving as an Ambassador for the Admissions Office.  He's also a peer advisor, Resident Assistant, mentors local middle school children and finds time to play basketball for the Mountaineers in between.

The Psychology/Pre-Law major will graduate in May.  In past years at SU, he has also been involved in the Tobacco-Free Campus Initiative, Habit for Humanity, San Antonio Mobile Food Bank, CSI (Community Service Initiative): Kerr County, helped organize Schreiner’s Rally Day and helped organize a fund-raising campaign for Hill Country Youth Ranch.

With all those demands on his time, he still made time to earn academic honors five times in his first six semesters and was Academic All-Conference in 2013 and 2014.
