DePauw's 2007 Second Place National Finish Selected SCAC Women's Golf Top Moment

SUWANEE, Ga. - DePauw University shot a final round 319 and finished the 2007 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., in second place with a 1303 - the best finish in school history.

That second place finish is being recognized as the Top Moment in the history of SCAC women's golf. Top 20 Moments homepage

The Tigers had finished in the top four each of the last five years including third-place finishes each of the last four years prior to the 2007 runner-up showing.

Sarah Gates, who finished her career as a four-time all-American, finished seventh with a 315 after shooting a 77 in the final round. Kristen Kreigshauser tied for 10th with a 321 and Ali Murtaugh was tied for 23rd with a 330.

Nikki Garza shot a 337 and tied for 38th, while Erin Kielty tied for 64th with a 354. Katie Dick of Methodist was the medalist with a 296.

Methodist University won the team title with a 1215.

Three members of that 2007 second-place squad were selected as National Golf Coaches Association Division III All-Americans. Gates earned a spot on the first team for the fourth straight year, while junior Ali Murtaugh was a second team selection and classmate Kristen Kriegshauser earned honorable mention.

DePauw head coach Vince Lazar was named the 2007 Great Lake Region Coach of the Year after directing the Tigers to their sixth straight top-four finish at the national championships.
