LAYNE HUBBARD
OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore outside hitter
from Austin, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Offensive
Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 10
through Sunday, September 16.
Hubbard led the Tigers to a 2-2 record at the
Trinity National Invitational last week, earning the team’s
first victories of the season.
Hubbard finished with 60 kills for the four matches, averaging 3.53 kills/set for the Tigers. She also tallied 43 digs (2.53/set) over the weekend, as well as four blocks and five service aces.
On the final day of the tournament, she posted double-doubles
against both #5 Emory and Concordia (TX). Hubbard
recorded a season-best 20 kills in the match against Emory, adding
16 digs in the 3-2 loss. The Concordia match (13 kills, 12 digs)
was her sixth double-double of the season.
