HANNAH
COLEY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior guard
from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s
Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday,
December 21st.
Coley led Trinity to a pair of victories over
the weekend, extending the team's winning streak to six games by
beating North Park and Manchester in the Tiger team's home
openers.
Coley averaged 18.5 points/game and 5.0 rebounds/game to pace the Tigers in the two wins, shooting 40.7% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range. She also hit all eight of her free throw attempts, as well as averaging 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals for the week.
After scoring just seven points in her first four games, Coley had back-to-back double-digit efforts to lead the way for the Tigers. She capped the week with her first 20-point effort, connecting on 5-9 three-pointers (6-13 overall from the field).
After Manchester rallied to cut Trinity's lead to three (49-46) in the second half, Coley converted a rare four-point play after being fouled on a three-point bucket, and the Tigers never led by less than six points after that.
For the season, Coley has moved up to fourth on the team with 7.3 points/game, and she is now third on the team with 12 assists in her six games played. She is shooting 31.8% from the field and 26.7% (8-30) from three-point range, as well as hitting 8-8 free throws this year - all of which came this weekend.
