Kyla Lockley, Texas Lutheran University, Offensive Co-Player of the Week (Week 6)

KYLA LOCKLEY OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior third baseman/catcher from Wharton, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Offensive Co-Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 5 through Sunday, March 11.

She shares the award this week with Gabriella Acuna of Schreiner University.

Lockley hit .571 over a four-game conference sweep of the University of Dallas with a hit in every game and three multi-hit games. She scored a run in every game and drove in at least one run in three of the four contests. In the 12-1 victory in the series finale, she went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. She also went 3-for-3 in stolen bases for the week.

For the season, Lockley is batting .436 (seventh in the SCAC) with 17 hits (seventh in the SCAC), 12 runs scored (fifth in the SCAC) and eight stolen bases (fourth in the SCAC).

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore third baseman Gabriella Acuna of Schriener went 5 for 12 (.417) on the weekend with two doubles, one home run and three runs driven in to lead the Mountaineers to three victories in four games against Southwestern in the SCAC-opening series for both teams. She had multiple hits in two of the games, including her 2-for-4 performance with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's 5-3 game one victory. She also scored six runs and had one stolen base. Junior catcher Stephanie Crumrine of Trinity led the Tigers to a 3-3 overall record last week, including taking three out of four on the road to open SCAC play at Centenary over the weekend. Crumrine hit .368 (7-19) for the week, but .429 (6-14) in conference action, hitting two doubles and two homers against the Ladies. She also picked up all four of her RBI and both runs scored for the week during the Centenary series. Crumrine had a hit in all four games of the weekend series, including back-to-back games with a homer. First-year catcher Katelyn Francis of Southwestern hit .667 (6-9) with one double, one RBI and one run scored in three games for the Pirates. Senior outfielder Lauren Mara of Austin College had a strong performance at the plate in the 'Roos lone doubleheader last week, batting .667 with a .750 on-base percentage and three runs batted in. She also scored two runs.
