SYDNEY FRIDAY
OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior right-hander from
Sugarland, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Softball
Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 25 through
Sunday, March 31.
Friday appeared in four of the five team games
last week, leading the Tigers to a 5-0 record and a nine-game
winning streak.
Friday went 4-0 with three complete-game victories and a pair of shutouts. She posted a stellar 0.77 ERA for the week, allowing just three earned runs in 27.1 innings pitched. Friday also recorded 22 strikeouts and held the opposition to a batting average of just .186 for the week.
In the three-game SCAC series against Austin College,
Friday pitched both ends of a Friday afternoon
doubleheader, recording a pair of shutouts to start the series. She
gave up just two hits and struck out nine batters in the opening
game, then scattered seven hits over seven innings to win game
two.
In a relief appearance in the series finale, Friday went 6.1 innings, allowing no runs on just two hits.
