In the same balloting, Kelsey Kingston of Southwestern University was named SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year and Pirates head coach, Angela Froboese, was selected as SCAC Coach-of-the-Year.

Sanchez, a junior shortstop from San Antonio, Texas, batted .405 during the regular season (eighth in the SCAC) and has already accumulated a single-season conference record 39 stolen bases, which is also currently second in the nation. Her 60 career steals are already good enough for fifth on the league's all-time list. Additionally, Sanchez is second in the league in runs scored (51), third in hits (53) and tied for fourth in walks (15). Her .943 fielding percentage was tops among SCAC shortstops during the regular season. Sanchez is the fifth Trinity softball player to earn SCAC Player-of-the-Year honors – her current teammate Caitlynn Dykes was one of three players to share the award last season.

Sanchez received three votes in the SCAC Player-of-the-Year balloting. Senior catcher Abigail O'Connor of Southwestern and sophomore catcher Taylor Garcia of University of Dallas received one vote each.

Friday, a senior right-hander from Sugar Land, Texas, led the SCAC during the regular season in earned run average (1.78), opposing batting average (.192) and shutouts (six) and was second in wins (11), fourth in innings pitched (121.2) and fourth in strikeouts (91). A two-time All-SCAC First Team selection, Friday is the first player from Trinity to earn SCAC Pitcher-of-the-Year honors since Erin Mulvey won the third of her back-to-back-to-back POTY honors in 2007. As she prepares for this weekend's SCAC tournament, Friday has posted a career ERA of 2.25 (11th best in SCAC history) and has 371 career strikeouts (tied for 10th-most in SCAC history; second most in school history).

Friday received four votes for SCAC Player-of-the-Year, while first-year right-hander player Kelsey Kingston of Southwestern received the remaining vote.

Kingston, a first-year right-hander from Kingswood, Texas, led the SCAC during the regular season in wins (22) and strikeouts (164) and was second in earned run average (2.27) and opposing batting average (.253). Her 22 wins are already the most by a first-year pitcher in SCAC history and the fifth-most by any pitcher. A four-time SCAC Pitcher-of-the-Week during the 2013 season, Kingston is the second Southwestern pitcher in three years to earn the league's Newcomer-of-the-Year honor. The Pirates' Lauren Zearfoss was recognized as top newcomer in 2011.

In the balloting for SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year, Kingston received three votes while a pair of freshman utility players – Kaci Wellik of Trinity and Erin Begle of University of Dallas – received one vote each.

In just five seasons in Georgetown, Froboese has built the Southwestern softball program into a West Region power. Included among her impressive accomplishments, Froboese guided Southwestern to a SCAC title in 2010 in just the second year of the program's existence and a trip to the NCAA region semifinal where the Pirates lost to eventual national champion East Texas Baptist University. A four-time SCAC Coach-of-the-Year selection (2009, 2010, 2011, 2013), Froboese won her 200th career game earlier this season and has a career mark of 222-137 (.618) heading into this weekend's conference tournament.

Froboese garnered two votes from her peers for SCAC Coach-of-the-Year, edging Centenary College head coach Mark Lambert, University of Dallas head coach Amber Conner and Trinity University head coach Brandi Crnkovic, who received one vote each.
