ANDREW WORTHINGTON OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior defender from Hinsdale, Ill., has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 20th through Sunday, October 26th.

Worthington and the Tiger defense record its ninth and 10th shutout of the season with victories over Schreiner and Texas Lutheran last weekend.

Colorado College allowed a total of eight shots in the two games, only three of which were on frame. Worthington, who played all 180 minutes, anchors the Colorado College leads the SCAC with a 0.59 goals-against average and 10 shutouts. During Friday’s 2-0 win over the Mountaineers, Colorado College held an opponent to one shot on goal or less for the fifth time. In Sunday’s 1-0 victory over TLU, the Tigers allowed fewer than 10 total shots for the 14 time in 18 games.

The back-to-back clean sheets marked the third time this season the Tigers did not allow a goal during a two-game weekend. Colorado College’s defense allowed only five goals in 12 home games this season. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior goalkeeper Andrew Celio of Austin College had a record setting weekend for Austin College, making a SCAC record 22 saves in a loss to Trinity and 34 saves overall in three games. Sophomore defender Curran Daniel of Southwestern returned  to action as a sub Friday after three weeks, he helped the team secure two wins over the weekend. His presence on the field is noticeable for the entire team. Junior goalkeeper Jonathan Michael of Texas Lutheran notched his seventh shutout of the season, tying him for the conference lead and added a seven save performance against Colorado College. Senior defender Simon Uribe of Trinity and Trinity's defense gave up just 12 shots in the two victories, as well as contributing the assist on Sunday's game-winning goal against Dallas. Centenary, Dallas, and Schreiner did not nominate anyone.
