JEFF HAYES OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior defender from San Antonio, Texas has been selected as the SCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, August 27 through Sunday, September 2.
Hayes got Trinity’s defense started on the right foot in 2012, giving up just one goal in two victories – including a shutout on Sunday afternoon. In addition to anchoring the defense for the Tigers, Hayes also got in on the scoring in both contests.
He knocked in the final goal of Trinity’s 4-1 win over
UT-Tyler on Friday, then picked up the eventual game-winning goal
in the 23rd minute against Mississippi College on Sunday.
Hayes and Trinity’s defense gave up just 17 total shots in the two games, and only eight of those shots were on goal.
