CooXooEii Black, Colorado College, Player of the Week (Week 13)

COOXOOEII BLACK OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore forward from Lander, Wyo., has been named the SCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, February 18th.

Black scored a career-high 29 points to lead the injury-plagued Colorado College men's basketball team to an 89-80 victory over the University of Dallas in the regular-season finale. The win helped CC clinch a bid to the 2018 SCAC Men's Basketball Championship this weekend.

Doing his best to make up for the loss of senior forward Chris Martin, Black connected on 12 of 14 shots from the floor and completed his eighth double-double of the season with a game-high 12 rebounds.

The sophomore forward is tied for second in the SCAC averaging 8.7 rebounds per game and tied for 11th at 15.2 points per game.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman guard Justice Mercadel of Austin College had a strong game for the 'Roos, scoring 20 points to go with five steals, three assists two rebounds and a blocked shot. Junior guard Treylan Matthews of Centenary College scored 26 points in the regular season finale, adding six assists and five rebounds to help the Gents to a win over Austin College. Freshman forward Spencer Levi of the University of Dallas scored a game-high 30 points in the Crusaders' loss to Colorado College. Senior forward Blake Kelley of Schreiner University averaged 16.5 points and 5.5 rebounds last week as the Mountaineers' clinched the tournament's top seed. Sophomore guard Kyle Howard of Southwestern University scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds in the Pirates' season finale. Junior guard Nathan Josephs of Texas Lutheran University came up big for the Bulldogs last week, draining the game-winning three-pointer that secured the team's bid to the SCAC Championship this weekend. Sophomore forward Danny Rivara of Trinity University averaged 25.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game last week to close out the Tigers' regular season competition.
