JUSTICE MERCADEL OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a freshman guard from Little Elm, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, January 28th.

Mercadel continued his recent hot streak with an average of 27.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals-per-game as the 'Roos split their weekend home games against Schreiner and Trinity.

Mercadel shot 61.3% from the field, 50% from three, and 92.9% from the free throw line, pouring in 25 points against Schreiner and 29 in a win over Trinity.

The 'Roos win over Trinity marked Mercadel's fourth double-double of the season, with 29 points and 10 rebounds.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore forward CooXooEii Black of Colorado College led the Tigers to a pair of wins, averaging 17.5 points and 8.0 rebounds. Junior guard Darrius Colvin of the University of Dallas averaged 21.5 points and 8.0 rebounds to lead the Crusaders to a weekend sweep. Senior forward Blake Kelley of Schreiner University helped the Mountaineers remain atop the conference standings with 14.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in the team's two wins last week. Sophomore guard Ryan Wheeler of Southwestern University averaged 12 points in the Pirates' two games last week. Junior guard Jacob Kouremetis of Texas Lutheran University averaged 14 points and shot 47.4 percent from the field in two home losses over the weekend. Senior guard Matt Jones of Trinity University recorded eight total assists over the weekend to move into fifth all-time in SCAC history for career assists, though the Tigers lost a pair of conference road games.
