ZACH BEHR OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from Temple, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, January 1st.
Behr hit the game-winning three-pointer with 12 seconds to play as the Bulldogs edged Hardin-Simmons on Dec. 19.
Behr scored at least 19 points in each of the TLU games over the holiday break. He posted point totals of 21, 20, 19 and 23 as the team went 2-2.
In the four game span, Behr averaged 20.8 points per game and also averaged 6.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.8 steals.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior guard Jeremy Swisher of Austin College led Austin College to a 2-1 record over the holiday break, averaging 16.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game and shooting 45% from the field. Junior guard Travion Kirkendoll of Centenary College averaged 18.5 points, 11 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals as the Gents went 1-1 on the week. Kirkendoll also recorded a game-winning buzzer beater in a 66-65 win over Rust. Senior center Tom Kaiser of the University of Dallas recorded his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Carroll University (WI). He also totaled four blocks in the game. Senior forward Zach Whitlock of Southwestern University recorded 22 points and 14 rebounds while shooting 52.6% from the floor in a game against McMurry University. Sophomore forward Aaron Knopp of Trinity University led the Tigers with his first career double-double in a 58-67 loss to Howard Payne on New Year's Eve, scoring 13 points to go with his career-high 10 rebounds.
