
MARK
PROMBERGER OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a senior
forward from Phoenix, Ariz., has been selected the SCAC Men’s
Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday,
February 8th.
Promberger led Dallas in scoring over the weekend
averaging 19.5 pts/gm as his squad went 1-1 against Schreiner
University and Trinity University.
On Friday in a 87-77 win over Schreiner, Promberger led Dallas with 19 points, while shooting 75 percent (9-of-12) from the floor. He also added three rebounds in the contest.
In Saturday's setback against Trinity, Promberger posted a team-high again with 20 points, one away from tying a season-best. That same contest versus Trinity he grabbed 10 rebounds which landed him his fourth double-double on the campaign.
For the season, Promberger averages 9.2 pts/gm and 5.0 reb/gm, which is 10th in the SCAC. He is also second in the league in field goal percentage at 53.9%
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore guard
Brian Baehl of Austin College led the 'Roos with 14.5
points and 6.0 rebounds per game last week, while adding 3.0
assists per game and shooting 92.9% from the free throw line. Freshman guard Travion
Kirkendoll of Centenary led the team in scoring with
16.5 points per game and shot over 50 percent from behind the arch.
He was also second on the team in rebounds and assists over
the weekend. Senior
forward Russell Clark of Colorado College averaged 13.5
points and shot .750 from the floor as Colorado College split a
pair of games last week. Clark now leads the SCAC with a .583
field-goal percentage. Sophomore forward Wes Miller of
Schreiner led the Mountaineers to a 1-1 weekend with 17
pts/gm including a 20 points in a must win game over Austin
College. Junior guard
Chris Lee of Southwestern averaged 12 points per game
to lead the Pirates including 16 points at Colorado College. shot
47.1% from the floor and 41.7% from three point range. Averaged 3.5
assists per game and just 1.5 turnovers. Senior forward Donte McGee of Texas
Lutheran averaged a double-double over TLU's 1-1
weekend. He capped the two-game road stretch with a 16-point,
13-rebound performance in the overtime victory at Colorado
College. For the week, he averaged 11.5 points and 10.5
rebounds. McGee leads the SCAC in rebounding average, at 8.3 boards
per game. Senior guard
Matt Selling of Trinity averaged 17.5 points and
5.0 rebounds per game last weekend, as the Tigers snapped a
four-game losing streak. The team also earned its first SCAC
weekend sweep of the season. Selling connected on 46.4% (13-28)
from the field, as well as a blistering 45.5% (5-11) from
three-point range to pace the Tiger offensive
attack.
