
JORDAN
KOUREMETIS OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a
sophomore guard from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC
Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played through
Sunday, February 1st.
Kouremetis led the Texas Lutheran to a pair
of wins this past weekend at home, defeating Austin College and
following that up with a victory over the University of Dallas.
Kouremetis averaged 23.0 pts/gm over the weekend, shooting 13-for-19 from the field, a blistering 10-for-15 from behind the arch, and 10-for-11 from the free throw line. He added 3.5 reb/gm and 3.0 ast/gm.
Kouremetis began the weekend with 26 points on 8-of-9 shooting and 6-of-7 shooting from behind the arch in a 87-79 win over Austin College. He was also a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. Kouremetis scored 20 points in the first half, maing all six of his threes in the first half. He followed that up with a 20 point outing in an 80-74 win over Dallas. Kouremetis scored 20 points on 5-of-10 shooting and 4-of-8 from behind the arch to lead the team.
For the season, Kouremetis is fifth in the league with 13.9 pts/gm and seventh in the SCAC, shooting 42.7% from 3-point land. He is also third in the league in free throw percentage at 83.1%.

Sophomore
guard Brian Baehl of Austin
College had a strong weekend
for Austin College, averaging 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in a
pair of games for the ‘Roos. Sophomore forward James Sapp of
Centenary tied for the team-lead in points, 16.0, and
led the team in rebounds with 7.0 per game. Junior guard Justin Berardino of
Colorado College scored eight of his career-high
25 points in overtime as Colorado College defeated Trinity, 70-65
in overtime. With the score tied at 60-60, Berardino hit a
three-pointer from the right wing with 2:18 remaining, and after TU
tied the game at 65-65, he calmly sank three free throws 32 seconds
later to put CC ahead for good. Senior Mark Promberger of
Dallas averaged 12.5 points-per-game this weekend with
a pair of double-digit outings in contests that resulted in Dallas
going 1-1. He shot 81.8 percent from the field and totaled 10
rebounds, including seven which was second-most for the squad on
Saturday's setback at Texas Lutheran. Sophomore forward Zach Whitlock of
Southwestern averaged 11.5 points per game in 22.5
minutes as SU went 1-1 on the weekend. Junior guard Jimmy Clark of
Trinity led Trinity in a pair of road losses in
conference play, scoring 13.5 points/game and pulling down a
team-best 6.5 rebounds/game against Centenary and Colorado College.
Clark hit 9-17 (52.9%) from the field and 4-6 (66.7%) from
three-point range for the week. Schreiner did not
nomiante anyone.
