ZACK SPEER OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a junior right handed pitcher
from Bellaire, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Baseball
Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Saturday, February
24th through Sunday, March 2nd.
Speer threw six shutout innings in
game one of Saturday’s doubleheader, leading the Tigers to a
weekend sweep against Centenary.
Speer gave up just three hits and
struck out seven batters in the game, pitching Trinity to a 10-0
shutout victory in his only appearance of the weekend.
For the
season, Speer is 4-0 with
an ERA of 0.74 in four games, allowing just two runs in 24.2
innings of work, and striking out 18 batters. Opponents are
hitting just .220 against him this season.
