MEGAN SOULTZ
OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY has been selected the
SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete-of-the-Week
for the week ending May 2, 2010.
Soultz, a senior from Carmel, Ind., has
volunteered her time as an EMT with Putnam County Operation Life,
as an assistant softball coach Greencastle High School and a
pitching instructor. On campus, she serves as a Presidential
Ambassador, a Leadership Intern and a DePauw First-Year Programs
Peer Mentor.
Soultz is a Dean's List student and has been named
to the SCAC Academic Honor Roll all three years and earned ESPN The
Magazine Academic All-District honors in 2008 and 2009.
On the field, she holds nearly every DePauw and SCAC pitching
record and ranks in the top 10 in several NCAA Division III career
pitching categories including second with 135 career starts, tied
for fourth with 46 shutouts and tied for fifth with 105 wins.
Soultz earned first team NFCA all-region honors
all three years, is a two-time all-America selection and twice was
named the SCAC Pitcher of the Year. Additionally, she was an SCAC
Pitcher of the Week selection 11 times and national player of the
week twice.
Soultz was a finalist for the Honda Division III
Woman Athlete of the Year in 2008 and was named to the
all-tournament team in all three years of NCAA first-round
competition. She led the Tigers to a fifth-place finish in Division
III in 2007.
