The Pirates started things off with one run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from senior Tessa Galloway before unleashing in the second for eight runs. Southwestern batted around the lineup as they rocketed six hits and took advantage of three Mountaineer errors in the inning.

After a quiet third innings Southwestern added one more run in the fourth for insurance and closed the game out with a quick top of the fifth to close out the 10-0 run rule victory.

Freshman Cozette Palmer earned her second win of the SCAC Championship, allowing just three hits in five innings of work while striking out four and walking none. Schreiner's Destiny Rodriguez garnered the loss with nine runs, six earned, on nine hits while walking one.

Offensively, Southwestern was strong all around but was led by sophomore Michele Ramos and junior Linsay Biggers who were both 2-for-2 on the day. Sophomore Christina Crandall recorded two RBI's as did senior Kayla Irvin.

Freshman Samantha Hernandez led the way offensively, coming through with the only extra base hit, a triple, for the Mountaineers.
