Lee's Complete Game Avoids Elimination; Propels Crusaders Past 'Roos

Neither team could get anything going throughout the first three innings as both teams only had one hit to show for.

Junior Taylor Garcia broke the scoreless game in the top of the fourth as she hammered a pitch down the left field line and over the fence to give the Crusaders a 1-0 lead.

Austin College looked to answer quickly as senior Mallory Rossmann singled and then stole second with no outs in the bottom half of the fourth. However, Lee worked out of the inning, getting a pop up, a foul out, and a ground out to keep the lead.

The Crusaders broke things wide open in the sixth as they scored three runs thanks in part to three errors by the 'Roo defense.

It was all Lee needed as she cruised to a complete game shutout and sent Austin College home. She pitched seven complete innings, allowing no runs on five hits while striking out one and walking nobody.

Sophomore Sophia Hernandez was tagged with the loss, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing one earned run on six hits.

Garcia finished 2-for-4 with the lone RBI while Avery Fince was the only other Crusaders with an extra base hit. Rossmann finished 2-for-3 to lead Austin College offensively.
