Stephens and Breuer honored by USTFCCCA as Regional Athlete and Coach of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Taylor Stephens, first-year runner from Rhodes College, and Trinity University head coach Jenny Breuer were honored as the South/Southeast Regional Athlete and Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Stephens, the 2008 SCAC Women's Runner of the Year, made an immediate impression in her first collegiate season by winning the SCAC and South/Southeast Region individual titles. She won the regional race by more than 20 seconds and also placed first in the Rhodes Invitational.

Breuer guided the Tigers to a first-place finish at the South/Southeast Regional. The finish earned Trinity a spot in the NCAA Division III Championships November 22 in Hanover, Ind. The Tigers earlier finished a close second to DePauw at the SCAC Championships.
