
GENEVA NEDROW OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior defensive specialist from Cedar Park, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 2 through Sunday, October 8. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 6)
Nedrow continued her stellar play, helping lead the Pirates to a 3-0 weekend and their first conference victory. She racked up 71 digs in three matches, averaging 7.1 digs per set which included a 36-dig performance in Saturday's 3-1 win over Austin College.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Senior middle blocker Carley Broekhuizen of Trinity led the 11th-ranked Tiger volleyball team to a pair of non-conference wins over Concordia (Texas) and Hardin-Simmons last week. Broekhuizen paced the Tigers with 1.33 blocks/set and 4.0 points/set in the two matches for the Tigers. She notched a career-high four blocks in the win over Concordia to start the day, adding four kills and an ace. Junior libero/defensive specialist Faith Coldewey of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs with 59 digs (4.92 per set) in their 4-0 week. Junior defensive specialist Kara Spice of St. Thomas played a pivotal role in the Celts' three SCAC wins this week, posting 51 digs at 4.25 digs per set.
