SARAH MULLENS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior libero from Aurora, Colo., has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Co-Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 8.
Mullens shares the honor this week with Southwestern's Brandi Campos.
This is the second player of the week honor for Mullens this season.
Mullens led the Tigers with her average 5.43 digs/set and 0.71 aces/set over the two matches against Sul Ross State and Mary-Hardin Baylor. She posted 21 digs in just three sets in the win over Sul Ross. Mullens followed that effort with 17 digs and four aces to hand UMHB - receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll - just its second loss of the season.
Mullens has tallied 46 service aces and 335 digs on the year.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Junior defensive specialist Brandi Campos of Southwestern University averaged 6.0 digs per set in the Pirates' two games this weekend. Senior defensive specialist Tatiana Ferrari of Austin College totaled 59 digs in the 'Roos four games this weekend, averaging a team-best 3.69. The 'Roos went 3-1, including knocking off #14 La Verne and handing Scranton just their second loss of the season. Senior defensive specialist Mathis Popelsky of Texas Lutheran University picked up 19 digs, averaging 4.75 digs per set in the Bulldogs' win over Concordia.
