KAITLYN FOSTER OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior outside hitter from San Antonio, Texas has been named SCAC Volleyball Defenseive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, October 13th through Sunday, October 19th.  

Foster once again led the Pirates in both kills and digs over the weekend with 54 kills (3.60/set) and 75 digs (5.00/set) and added in nine blocks (4th most on team). She added two assists and one ace. Southwestern defeated #10 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday and followed by finishing the weekend going 9-1 for three more wins. Against CMS, Foster had 27 digs and four blocks. 

Foster is the first player in SCAC history to be named both Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week in consecutive weeks. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Senior defensive specialist Sophie Merrifield of Colorado College led the team with 78 digs, averaging 19.5 digs a match, and six service aces. Senior libero Rachel Fusselman of Austin College averaged 5.18 digs per set, totaling 57 for the weekend. Sophomore middle blocker Rebecca Hayes of Trinity University recorded a match-best seven blocks on Thursday evening, as well as adding eight kills, a hitting percentage of .471, and a pair of service aces to lead the team.
