RACHEL FUSSELMAN OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior libero from Trophy Club, Texas has been named SCAC Volleyball Defenseive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, October 6th through Sunday, October 11th.
Fusselman had a big weekend for Austin College as the 'Roos went 2-1, averaging 7.20 digs per set with a total of 72 digs in three matches. Fusselman twice notched more than 20 digs, including a 30 dig performance in a win over Dallas.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior defensive specialist Andie Alford of Southwestern University averaged 4.92 digs per set to lead Southwestern to a 4-0 week. Junior middle blocker Carlie Childres of Texas Lutheran registered 12 total blocks as the Bulldogs went 2-1 at the SCAC Divisional Tournament. Junior setter Erika Edrington of Trinity University finished with 46 digs (4.18/set) to lead the Tigers, as well as adding a team-best 121 assists (11.00/set). Senior defensive specialist Sophie Merrifield of Colorado College broke the CC all-time record for most career digs when she picked up her 18th dig in the third set against the University of Dallas.
