SCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Recap - Week Five

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - An intra-conference dual between Austin College and Southwestern University highlighted this week's action in the pool for Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's swimming teams.

In a meet swam at Austin's Hannah Natatorium, Southwestern earned the 169-73 victory over Austin College on Saturday afternoon.

The Pirates were dominant from the start, sweeping through relays as the team of freshman Kate Russell, freshman Rehgan Hartsell, freshman Breely Peterson, and sophomore Sam Rao won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:55.83 while Rao, Russell, Hartsell, and junior Cara Chin won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:45.35.

Sophomore Brielle Adolph won the 1000 free with a time of 11:55.68 while Russell earned a win in the 500 free with a time of 5:30.92.

Peterson was victorious in the 200 free at 2:06.50 while Russell won the 100 back at 1:05.58. Sophomore Teresa Cropper won the 100 breast at 1:17.62 while senior Taylor Adams won the 200 fly at 2:21.51.

Hartsell won the 50 free at 26.03 followed by Rao winning the 100 free at 59.00. Freshman Mattie Wesoloski picked up a win in the 200 breast at 2:53.93 while junior Erika Dubros took the 100 fly at 1:04.03. Peterson rounded out the dominant performance with a win in the 200 IM at 2:23.19.

Sophie Garriga had a strong meet to lead the 'Roos, taking first in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:29.30 and adding a second-place finish in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:29.35. Katherine Tuttle earned first place points in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.

The McMurry University women dropped a 123-73 decision to NCAA Division II foe University of Texas-Permian Basin at the Phillips Family Center.
 
Senior Robyn Remschel won twice for the McM ladies, as she had a season-best time of 25.79, to win the 50-yard freestyle by better than one full second.  In the 100 backstroke, Remschel had a clocking of 1:00.69, topping the field by six seconds.
 
Fellow senior Katie Gorka won the longest race of the day – the 1000-yard freestyle – in a time of 12:16.40 for the marathon race. Kaylee Cook was McM's other event winner, taking top honors in the 100 freestyle (1:00.31).
