BAILEY MEYER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior defender from Southlake, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, October 3rd. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 5)
Meyer anchored a backline that posted two conference shutouts last weekend. Meyer and the backline played excellent defense and allowed six total shots all weekend with two of those being on target. Meyer and the Trinity backline also only allowed one corner kick throughout the entire weekend in wins over Centenary and St. Thomas.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defender Bekah Gonzalez of Dallas anchored a backline that posted its third-straight clean sheet and fifth of the season in a 2-0 win over Austin College last weekend. Gonzalez and the Crusaders held the ‘Roos without a single shot on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Audrey Rivera of Schreiner registered 11 saves, playing the full 220 minutes of the two double overtime 1-1 fixtures against St. Thomas and Centenary in the opening weekend of SCAC play .
