Kayla McConnell, Schreiner University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 2)

KAYLA MCCONNELL OF SHREINER UNIVERSITY, a sophomore midfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Co-Player of the Week for matches played Tuesday, September 6th through Sunday, September 11th. 

McConnell helped lead the Mountaineers to a 2-0-1 week with wins against McMurry and Sul Ross St. McConnell picked up 3 goals and 3 assists on the week.

In the 9-0 victory over McMurry, McConnell recorded 2 goals and 3 assists for 7 points on the night.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defender Jaque Beck of Texas Lutheran University led the Bulldogs to the home-opening win over Concordia Texas with an assist in the match. Freshman midfielder Elisa Duran of the University of Dallas notched her first collegiate goals, including a gamewinner, in the Crusaders 2-0 win against Millsaps College. Junior forward/midfielder Erin Eckart of Austin College had 3 assists on the week, while also firing 13 shots with 6 on goal. Senior midfielder Yasmine Farra of Trinity University capped the weekend with the game-winning golden goal in overtime against Sewanee on Sunday afternoon with less than four minutes to play. Freshman forward/midfielder Olivia Jackson of Centenary College assisted the game-winning goal as Centenary downed Austin College 2-1. Junior forward/midfielder Malorie Lara of Southwestern University posted a .429 shots on goal percentage with a goal and an assist.
