JORDAN LEEPER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior defender from Austin, Tx., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Monday, October 10th through Sunday, October 16th.
Leeper led Trinity to three SCAC shutouts at home this past week, defeating Schreiner University, Austin College, and Centenary College.
Leeper and the Tiger defense started the week by holding Schreiner without a shot in a 3-0 victory. The team followed by giving up a total of 7 shots over a two-game weekend, and has now recorded 8 consecutive shutout wins this season.
In addition to her defensive prowess, Leeper contributed to the offensive effort as well, scoring her first goal of the season in Sunday's win against Centenary. She also had 2 assists in the game - all of which came in the first half of play.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior goalkeeper Erin Rose of Texas Lutheran University made 4 saves, including a high, leaping save in the second half of TLU's 0-0 draw with University of Dallas. Rose played all 110 minutes in the double-overtime match. First-year goalkeeper Olivia Severson of the University of Dallas entered Sunday's match at halftime and helped the Crusaders capture its second shutout of the season in a 0-0 road draw at Texas Lutheran. Severson worked the remaining 65 minutes and collected a pair of saves to help UD gain a point in the standings.
