Sarah Buss, Trinity University, Women's Golfer of the Week (Week 3 - Spring)

SARAH BUSS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Plano, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, February 26 through Tuesday, March 3.

Buss led Trinity to a first-place finish at the SCAC Preview, which was contested Monday and Tuesday at Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas. The sophomore tied for first place individually with Schreiner's Reygan Rodriguez with a two-round score of 160 (81-79), but parred the first playoff hole to earn medalist honors.

Buss was tied for second in the field in Par 3 scoring (+2), tied for third in Par 4 scoring (+13) and tied for fourth in Par 5 scoring (+1). She had four birdies, which was tied for second best among the 33 golfers.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Reygan Rodriguez of Schreiner finished in a tie for top player honors with Trinity's Buss at the SCAC Preview, firing rounds of 79 and 81 for a two-day total of 160. She bogied the first playoff hole to settle for second-place individually. First-year golfer Linsey Garza of Southwestern led the field at the SCAC Preview in birdies with six. She finished tied for third with her teammate Madison Goldberg for third place individually with a two-day total of 161 First-year golfer Wynter Flores of Texas Lutheran paced the Bulldogs and finished tied for third with rounds of 79 and 82 at the SCAC Preview. Senior Kari Thorn of St. Thomas led the Celts at the SCAC Preview, finishing with a two-round total of 173 - good for a tie for 14th individually. First-year golfer Clair Kirby of Dallas fired a first-round 84 and was tied for 11th before slipping to 20th place at the SCAC Preview. Sophomore Ali Nava of Johnson & Wales was the top Wildcat golfer by 23 strokes as the team opened their spring season at the SCAC Preview.
