KAYCEE BANKERT OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior from Missouri City, Texas, has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for competitions through Tuesday, March 14.
Bankert shot a second-round 79 and led the way for the Mountaineers at the Division III National Spring Preview which was contested at the Bay Oaks Country Club course in Houston.
Bankert finished with a two-day total of 160 (+16) at the marquis event which included some of the best teams in the nation to finish tied for seventh. Schreiner placed eighth in the 10-team field
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Jessica Varner of Centenary finished fourth overall and first among four-year college golfers, as she fired the fourth-best final round with a 3-over 75, finishing the tournament with a 151 total (+7). First-year golfer Leilani McDaniel of Southwestern tied for 19th (along with her teammate Valentina Olivieri-Puentes) after rounds of 84 and 81 at the Division III National Spring Preview. The Pirates finished in fifth place in the 10-team event. Sophomore Tarah Cochran of Texas Lutheran posted a top-20 finish after rounds of 89 and 84, and tied for 17th at the California Lutheran Invitational. TLU finished fifth at the CLU Invitational.
