Liz Cordova, University of Dallas, Player of the Week (Week 3)

LIZ CORDOVA OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a sophomore outfielder from Oklahoma City, Okla., has been named the SCAC Softball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, February 11th through Sunday, February 17th.

Cordova batted. 500 (6-for-12) over four games during the opening weekend for the Crusaders. She went 2-4 with a double in the team’s comeback win over Southwestern College to start the campaign.

On Sunday she logged four hits, including a perfect 3-3 in a 3-2, 8-inning win against Hendrix College. In the triumph, Cordova reached base four times and was a factor in the trio of scoring plays for Dallas. She scored a run, drove in one, and had the double that allowed Emily Martin to pinch run and eventually come in on the game-winner. Dallas is 3-1, which is the best start since 2008.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman utility player Mari Prazak of Austin College had a huge week at the plate, batting .526 with a .583 on-base percentage and a .632 slugging percentage in seven games. Prazak had two doubles, four runs scored, a stolen base, and also drove in five runs. Sophomore infielder Celeste Silvas of Southwestern led the Pirates to a sweep of Our Lady of the Lake University last weekend, improving to a perfect 6-0 for the first time in program history. Silvas hit .333 at the plate with two stolen bases, one RBI and one run scored. Junior shortstop Cassie Roche of Texas Lutheran homered and drove in three in the Bulldogs’ doubleheader split with Concordia Texas. She was 2-for-3 in the first game with the solo homer and two stolen bases, and was 1-for-2 in the late game with two runs scored.
