BAILEY MEYER OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Colorado Springs, Colo., has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, February 26 through Sunday, March 4.

Meyer racked up three wins this week with an 0.39 ERA in 18.0 innings of work as the Pirates went 4-0 in Florida. Of the three games she appeared, she tossed two complete games and was perfect until the sixth inning against Mt. Union. She had 31 strikeouts and allowed just one earned run.

For the season, Meyer leads the SCAC in innings pitched (41.0), wins (6), strikeouts (49) and complete games (5) and lowered her ERA to 2.90.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior pitcher Kassie Maddox of Texas Lutheran picked up a win and two saves at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, and led the Bulldogs to a 5-1 record at the tournament. Maddox had a save against No. 2-ranked St. John Fisher and ended the game by starting a 1-6-3 double play. In the comeback win over Berry, she tossed the final 5.1 innings and allowed just one earned run. She also picked up a save in the 4-2 win over St. Thomas (Minn.). She was named to the NFCA Leadoff Classic All-Tournament Team, and finished the Classic with an ERA of 1.83 and with 12 strikeouts and only four earned runs allowed in 15.1 innings. Maddox also helped at the plate, batting .474 with six RBI, a double, a home run, and six runs scored. Sophomore pitcher Hannah Ortiz of Schreiner picked up the complete game win in the Mountaineers' 4-0 victory in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader sweep of Hardin-Simmons. She allowed three hits while striking out four and walking two. Sophomore pitcher Lauren Galvan of Dallas combined for 18.1 innings in a pair of games that went extra innings for the Crusaders. The second-year right-hander pitched into the 10th inning both outings. She had six strikeouts total in her two appearances, including four versus Huntingdon (Ala.).
