SUWANEE, Ga. - The SCAC had sponsored women's softball as an official conference sport since 1999, and, beginning in 2000, its champion had received an automatic berth into the NCAA championships. From 2000 to 2006, SCAC softball teams had limited success in NCAA postseason play, sporting a mark of 5-14 in regional play. But in 2007, a freshman pitcher from Carmel, Ind., would help change all that.

SUWANEE, Ga. - Defending SCAC Champion Southwestern swept Trinity over the weekend allowing the Tigers just three runs in the four game series. Junior pitcher Lyndsy Maus was outstanding pitching 12 innings going 2-0 with one shutout, allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out eight and walking just two for a .75 ERA, holding Trinity to a .167 batting average and no extra base hits.
