ELLIOT BLAKE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from Fort Worth, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets run Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13.
Blake finished 17th out of nearly 400 runners at the highly-competitive Inter-Regional Border Battle in New Jersey. Running against top DIII teams, he completed the race with an outstanding time of 25:25 for 8K. This is a 25-second personal best in very muddy conditions.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Caleb Calderon of Texas Lutheran broke the TLU school record at the UC Riverside Highlander Invitational with a 26:31 over the soft 8K course. Senior Alberto Rodriguez of Johnson & Wales finished 25th out of 175 competitors ranging from Division I to NJCAA. He had a time of 26:42.4 on a course that was muddy after five days of rain. He set a PR with his time and set a new JWU record.
