Marquis Brown, Texas Lutheran University, Men's Track Athlete-of-the-Year

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – After exclusive voting by the head coaches of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), Marquis Brown of Texas Lutheran University was selected as SCAC Men's Track Athlete-of-the-Year.

Brown, a sophomore from Refugio, Texas, led Texas Lutheran to an overall second place finish in the team's second year as a varsity program. He finished first in both the 200 and 400 meters in times of 21.57 and 48.88, respectively. He was second in the 100m with a time of 10.99. Brown also was a member of the second-place 4x100 relay that broke the tape in a time of 43.34. His time in the 400 earned him a trip to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where he finished in 11th place with a time of 47.98 seconds.

During the regular season, Brown was also undefeated in the 400 meter dash, including competition from all NCAA Divisions. During the 2016 season, he broke school records in all of his event.

Brown earned the Track Athlete of the Year honors for the second consecutive year, picking up four votes, while Trinity's Cody Hall earned the remaining vote.
