LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s swimming & diving continued last week, highlighted by Colorado College and McMurry competing at the CC Classic along with Austin College and Southwestern traveling to Centenary and Trinity, respectively, for dual meets. 

Colorado College took home second at the CC Classic with 799.5 total points, while McMurry finished fourth out of five teams with 194 points. Barton Community College won the meet with a total team score of 1,069. 

CC sophomore Cade Thumann produced a pair of wins to help lead the Tigers. Thumann won the 100-yard backstroke in 54.76 and touched first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.98. Senior Eric Dallesasse won the 100-yard butterfly in his final home meet with a time of 52.36. The Tigers were also impressive in the 200-backstoke, posting a 1-2-3 finish led by sophomore Julian Frerichs’ time of 2:06.17. 

Highlighting the meet for McMurry was freshman Terrin Boehmer, who took third in the 100-yard backstroke with a personal best time of 57.92. Sophomore Myles Pickens posted a personal best in the 50-yard freestyle, narrowly missing out on the finals with a time of 23.57. 

Austin College defeated Centenary, 122-72, in a dual meet in Shreveport, Louisiana last Saturday as both teams closed out the regular season. 

Individually, David MowlesCade Griffith and Ethan Nguyen all turned in first-place finishes to lead Austin College. Mowles won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:28.47), Griffith took home first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.84) and Nguyen touched first in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.15). 

Gents’ sophomore Mitchell Lulich won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:17.60 and Eddie Dyess won both the 50-yard freestyle (23.16) and the 100-yard backstroke (57.77) to lead Centenary on the afternoon. 

Trinity outlasted Southwestern, 159.5-117.5, last Saturday in San Antonio, Texas as both teams prepare for the SCAC Championship in less than a month.   

Trinity’s Daniel Sarman was a double winner to lead the way for the Tigers. Sarman won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 1:52.77, only .12 second off his season-best, and won the 200-yard freestyle hitting the win in 1:44.05. Other highlights included, Grayden Nelson emerging victorious in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:03.13), Matt Lanzara winning the 100-yard backstroke (54.22) and James Warren claiming gold in the 200-yard IM (2:01.40). 

Tiger junior Beau Tipton was the champion of the 200-yard butterfly (1:54.79) and was edged by teammate Ben Adams in the 100-yard butterfly (53.20). 

Southwestern’s Alek Argueta led the way for the Pirates picking up two individual victories, winning both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke with time of 59.89 and 2:12.59, respectively. The Pirates also picked up three wins in the individual freestyle events: Keith Gill won the 50 in a time of 21.74, Sam Anderson took home first in the 100 (48.31) and Matt Oevermann won the 500 in 4:55.93. 

SCAC men’s swimming and diving continues with a light week on the schedule as University of the Ozarks and Southwestern will take on Henderson State and UT-Permian Basin respectively on Saturday for dual meets.
