Trinity women; DePauw and Trinity men tied for first after day two of SCAC Championships

Nashville, Tenn. - Day two of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Swimming and Diving Championships finished in historic fashion as nine of the ten events contested finished in record fashion. Every event, except for the men's 400 medley relay, saw new conference bests as the Trinity University women maintained its day on lead. Centre College and DePauw both had impressive showings. The Colonels won three of four relays with wins in both the men's and women's 400 medley relay and the women's 200 freestyle relay. The Centre 200 freestyle relay team of Meredith Angel, Lauren Gates, Colleen Maggard and Caroline Stephens set a new SCAC record with a time of 1:36.62. The time was good enough for an NCAA "B" cut.

Meanwhile on the men's side, the DePauw 200 freestyle relay team of Josh Baugh, John Cook, Steve Klabak and John Montgomery set a new SCAC record by finishing in a blistering 1:22.98. The mark earned the team an NCAA "B" cut time and eclipsed the previous conference best (1:24.60) by over a second.

Other conference records set included the women's 500 freestyle (DePauw's Callie Boehme, 5:06.62), the men's 500 freestyle (Trinity's Alex Miranda, 4:37.66), the women's 200 IM (Centre's Lis Starr, 2:06.36), the men's 200 IM (DePauw's Baugh, 1:54.54), the women's 50 freestyle (Centre's Angel, 23.42, NCAA "A" cut), and the men's 50 freestyle (DePauw's Cook, 20.51, NCAA "A" cut 20.51).

The SCAC Championships contine on Friday February, 13 at 10:30 a.m. Central with preliminary action as well as the women's 3-Meter diving. Finals are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Central.
